Hill didn’t bother with visitor etiquette when he got to Fernando’s. He burst into the apartment suite with deadly menace shadowing his expression and sharpening his stance. At once he noticed Tate Henton and Manny Baez seated on a sofa in the living room.

The duo shot up to stand. Simultaneously, the boys’ hands raised to fend off the inevitable. Hill bolted toward them, bottomless eyes spewing violet-infused obsidian that promised certain massacre.

The room echoed with the sounds of hands hitting flesh when Hill caught a wad of each boy’s shirt and lifted him off his feet. The boys screamed as Fernando and Kraven worked doggedly to restrain Hill.

“It’s not them, man! It’s not them!” Brogue cried, tentatively venturing forward into the melee. “They just brought her here after.”

“They saw her with Eva and Mae,” he went on to relay the details speedily. “Eva was telling Mae she wanted the bruises to show and how it was gonna take a while on that nice chocolate skin.”

Hill wrenched free of his human restraints and scowled at Fernando.

“She’s in the guest bedroom,” he jerked his head in the general direction and then turned to lead the way.

“Don’t you two go far,” Kraven warned Tate and Manny once Hill stormed off.

“Is he gonna blame us for this?” Tate whispered, his usually blank stare then panic filled.

“You stayed to watch instead of stopping it,” Brogue shook his head, disturbing honey blonde locks against a wide brow. “I’d say you’ve got some serious blame comin’ your way.”

“We couldn’t stop it!” Manny blurted, dark brown eyes wide and pleading. “All three of us would’ve probably been laid out there and dyin’ if we’d gone at it with Mae.”

“You dunces had better hope he sees it that way,” Kraven’s tone revealed he didn’t hold out much hope of that.
